Reece Gilmore is the only survivor in a brutal crime back in Boston. Desperate enough to forget everything, she moved from one place to another. Then Reece settle in Angel's Fist, Wyoming temporarily, she takes a job at a local diner as a cook. One day while Reece is hiking in the mountain, with her binoculars, she witnessed a crime. Shocked and don't know what to do, she turned back stumbling and slipping, afraid that the man might see her and he bumped Brody down the trail. No one in Angel's fist believe her except Brody. Together ,to find out who is the killer , they started to investigate before it's too late.
Wine improves with age. I will refer Nora Roberts book "Angel's Fall" as a wine, at first I cannot visualize what the author is trying to convey in the book, but as I go on with the chapters, interest in reading the book grew on me as I go one with the pages , it gets better.
The context of the book is sociological. Sociological context because the meaning of the novel talks about the "murder" happened in Angel's Fist, a murder that only one person witnessed and when she told it to the police, they seem not to believed her because they believed that Reece has a mental illness, which also the killer is the sheriff in the town, Rick. This novel really tells what is happening in our society today that those people who protect the laws is also the one who do horrible things.
Love and mysteries of murder is the theme of the book. As a matter of fact murders tend to happen in our society nowadays. While love is all around us, we may like it or not but love is unexpected, it goes all along the way, you cannot choose whom you want to love. Brody's love to Reece is unconditional, even if he didn't confess his feelings yet, he still stay on her side and he always protect Reece no matter what happens. I've already experienced to loved and beloved and I can say that it was great.
In addition to that, I can trace 21st century literature in the novel because first, Reece came from a place where usage of technology is very rampant, Second you can read in the story that she likes to write in her diary/journal. The style of the writer is simple but even if it's simple some words is not understandable enough but still the way the writer wrote the novel gives a big impact to the readers.
The most significant part of the story for me is that, when they found out that Reece have some trauma because of the crime that she got involved. Reece is having a problem that someone is bothering her, that someone is throwing treats to her and wants to ruin her life. But no one believed her, that she just making up those stories so that she could draw attention, even the police didn't believed her. This is the most significant for me because, Reece is telling the truth but no one believes her because of what had happened to her before and given also that she was just a newbie in the town. I can say that past or background of people can affect the way they see you today.
The difficulties that I faced when reading the novel is that, I cannot understand some words or lines, especially that I am not fond in reading novels, but I overcome it by searching the meaning of the word in the dictionary and by simply understanding the novel. But so far the story line
of the novel is easy to understand, despite the difficulties that I've encountered.
The novel that I've read simply affect me by showing what really is happening in our society today. By doing this activity, I can say that my perception in reading novels changed a bit. It feels like I want to read more different genre of novels.
Overall I am giving Nora Roberts' novel a big thumbs up and nine out of ten for creating not only a story but also such a wonderful story, romance and mystery combined is great. The novel a is so well-written that as you go on reading the different chapters you can easily attach yourself to the characters and the story itself.
