Dear Miss Fantauzzo,
I recently read your essay, In Manila, Two Seasons, No Regrets, and it was such a surprising text.
At first, I really thought that it was in a male's point of view but upon knowing your biography, it was such a shock. I read it again for the second time after knowing you were actually gay (Please don't take this the wrong way, I am in no way insulting you in mentioning such word).
Indeed, the essay sheds light to an angle of love that people often misunderstand. There is no gender for love. As you implied, we all feel that same feeling and since we are all made equal, we all deserve an equal amount of freedom to be whoever and whatever we want to be.
Although I do not belong to the LGBTQ, and I am in fact grossed out of same-sex relationships, I do not have the right to say that you, or any other member of the LGBTQ, should not have intimate relation with the same gender. After all, if that is what you want, and what it takes for you to be happy, then you are free to do so.
I am not saying I support these kinds of relations (same-sex). However, I support you for having the bravery to stand up for your rights and for who you are.
Best Regards,
Joanna Deus
